Lightning Experience Reports & Dashboards Specialist Pre-work and Challenge 1.

Hey guys! Welcome to my blog as I document my journey of completing this intricate Superbadge. On August 15th at approximately 10:00 pm, I started the Lightning Experience Reports & Dashboards Specialist Superbadge. A word of advice: do not begin this Superbadge at night unless you're ready for your head to spin and you're a coffee drinker. Each of these challenges is super descriptive and it's important to read through each requirement thoroughly. I made myself a cup of lemon ginger tea and I was prepared to tackle this bad boy!

Before you even begin the challenges, there is pre-work that needs to be done. At this point, it would be extremely helpful to grab a pen, pencil, marker, or paper, whatever works best for you. The requirements are as follows:

  • Create a new Trailhead Playground for this super badge. Using this org for any other reason might create problems when validating challenges.

  • Add the value SolarBot to the Type picklist on the Opportunity object. These instructions will help.

  • Install the unmanaged package (package ID 04t1H0000018kE1) to implement SolarBot Acquisition assets. If you have trouble installing a managed or unmanaged package or app from AppExchange, follow the steps in this article.

  • After installing the unmanaged package, navigate to the Data Import tab on the SolarBots app and select Import.

  • Create these six public groups as described here:

    • Executive Team

    • Report and Dashboard Administrators

    • Research and Development Team

    • Sales Leadership Team

    • Sales Team

    • Support Team

  • All steps in this super badge should be completed in Salesforce Lightning Experience.

  • Some of the terminology used in this super badge is descriptive and may not match the name as it appears in the UI. This is to test your knowledge of Salesforce features and ability to select the correct feature to satisfy a business need.

Challenge 1

A few tips that helped me and hopefully they will help you succeed in this challenge as well:

  • Add the value 'SolarBot' to the Opportunity Object.

  • Make sure you create the folders below-mentioned directly as the requirements list them.

  • It's super important to grant access only to the existing public groups.

Please take your time and read the requirements carefully. As a standard measure, I always go back and reread the requirements to double-check my steps. Needless to say, completing this challenge was slightly easy and I'm super excited to curate legacy SolarBot reports and work my way through each challenge!
